About the Role

We are excited to present several opportunities for Senior Staff Specialists in Addiction Medicine within the Drug and Alcohol Clinical Services (DACS). This is a unique opportunity to be part of a multidisciplinary team dedicated to improving health outcomes and reducing harm for individuals with substance use problems, as well as supporting their families, carers, and the wider community.

    Temporary Fixed Term (until 30th June 2026), 1.2 FTE

  2. Staff Specialist - Addiction Medicine (OTP)
    Permanent Part-Time, 0.6 FTE

  3. Staff Specialist - Addiction Medicine (Virtual Care)
    Permanent Part-Time, 0.4 FTE

  4. Staff Specialist - Addiction Medicine (MERIT)
    Temporary Fixed Term (until 30th June 2026), 0.1 FTE

Key Responsibilties

As a Senior Staff Specialist in Addiction Medicine, you will provide specialist care across various settings, including community, outpatient, and inpatient environments. This position also offers opportunities to engage in clinical research, with DACS being an active member of the Drug & Alcohol Clinical Research and Improvement Network. You will have the chance to contribute to ongoing projects and mentor addiction medicine and psychiatry trainees. Key responsibilities include:

  • Clinical Services
    Provide admitting, diagnostic, outpatient, telehealth, and on-call services.

  • Supervision & Education
    Supervise junior medical staff, participate in teaching, and contribute to research.

  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration
    Work closely with nursing, allied health professionals, peer support, and Aboriginal health workers.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Specialist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Fellowship with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent.
